My girlfriend compares me to her best male friend all of the time !?

My girlfriend has a male friend. They seem to get along very well. What I find really annoying is that she is always criticizing me and comparing me to her friend.

She always says I should be funnier like he is, that I should be slimmer like he is, that I should sing like he does singing -and he sounds horrible- and that I should be more romantic like he is !

Why does she do this? Do you think she might be cheating on me with him? She always says they are "just friends" But this behavior of hers seems really suspicious. How should I respond to this annoying behavior?

Dude, relax. Her friend is the one in the friend zone. She's dating you.

She will complain to her friend about you or whatever, but she will never hook up with him.

How you should respond - with jokes. Don't take her criticisms seriously. Deflect. But, (and here's the important bit) give her the impression that you're listening to her as well. Do something romantic (and surprising) and when she invariably asks why you did it (because girls can never just take something nice) you can tell her that you thought you'd be a little more romantic, just like she said.

Girls like a challenge. They also like the illusion of progress when it comes to them working on their guy, like a project, correcting all his little faults.

Honestly, that doesn't sound like a very good girlfriend to me. If anything, she should be comparing people to how great you are. If her friend is so great, why doesn't she just date him?

I don't think she's cheating on you but I think she would rather be with him.

Sorry, but she doesn't sound like much of a girlfriend or that your relationship has much future. I don't think she is cheating, but truly I don't think it matters... Either way the relationship seems to be "broken". I would dump her... Sorry.
