Do you think it´s pathetic to go out alone?

My mother has been depressed lately so I can´t really do anything with my family (I don´t any siblings or young cousins). I have 5 best friends: three live extremely far away and I only see them when they come to the city; another one is also depressed and doesn´t like going out and the last one lives attached to her boyfriend.

I am very young and a very happy go lucky person and I strongly refuse to sit at home and become depressed like everyone else around me. I love going out, taking photos, going to nice restaurants, going to the movies, going for long walks, doing exercise, going to museums, etc etc etc

So, I usually do all these things by myself. Of course, sometimes I go out wtih people, but most of the time it´s just me myself and I lol

Personally, I´m very proud of myself for not letting other people bring me down. I could easily sit home and cry over not having anyone to go out with. But I don´t, I go out and have a great time. Of course, sometimes I feel kind of weird when everyone arounds me is exchanging saliva or talking to a huge group of friends.

So, what to you people think when you see a girl doing things alone? Do you think it´s sad? pathetic? normal? cute?

I am in a similar situation also. I have close friends from high school but they are usually busy with their bfs or have their own family. And can't go out as often. So I usually keep myself busy with work, school and occasionally meet new people. I meet new people either by taking a new job, school, or church. Either way I admire you for going out alone. I am too chicken to do it, cause it makes me feel even more lonely seeing everyone else with other people. But if you find yourself still having a good time solo, then go that is awesome. Even a few of my friends I hang out with wonder if I have any other friends because they always seem unavailable. But you seem like the type that makes friends easily.

since when did sitting home or going out with a support group become the only two viable options in a persons lifestyle choice?

im quite sure people have been leaving their house alone for centuries.

I think being unable to be on your own, is pathetic. I don't see what is superior about needing support just to leave your house. its also never occurred to me to care what anyone thinks of me doing things alone. I don't even think I can imagine why it should be an issue.

you want to do something go doit. is not it a pain in the ass having to have a support group or bAbysitters just to do something?

Tell you the truth, no one really knows you're alone, for e.g. if I see someone I probably think she's waiting for someone or something, I don't really think anything of it tbh. I do think it's easier though for a woman to go out alone than it is for a guy because the odds of someone approaching you or interacting with someone else is higher. But it's very admirable that you have enough confidence in yourself to do whatever without worrying.

I think it's normal, even admirable. Why must someone need to be with someone to go out? I actually think more highly of people who can do things on their own without losing any joy. They usually have more confidence and a stronger character.

No I don't think it is pathetic for a girl to go out alone. Not for girls. But I think for guys it could be seen by girls as pathetic.

Kudos for having the guts. If you didn't you'd be digging yourself into a hole! It sounds like you're just doing what you love and life will meet you there!
