Why does he look at me sideways?

When I talk to this guy I noticed he does something strange. We will be facing each other, but he will look at me out of the corner of his eye instead of directly. He will smile while doing this too.

Nobody has ever looked at me from the side lol. Should I take his avoiding of eye contact as lack of interest?

For a number of reasons, no. You shouldn't take that as a sign of disinterest. Never take a single thing that a person does as a sign of interest or disinterest. For all you know, it's an idiosyncrasy that he's picked up (been conditioned to do) and he does it to everyone or in certain situations. That's why, when reading someone's body language, you are suppose to establish a baseline. For instance, someone licking their lips a lot is generally a sign of interest, but I started doing it a lot in my childhood; so, when I do it, it means absolutely nothing. It's just something that I always do. Another thing, the context in which someone performs an action also matters and you should look for clusters (everyone will show a bad sign here or there, but, if they usually appear to like you, then they most likely do).

Okay makes sense. I just think eye contact is important in establishing interest so when people avoid it, I tend to think they aren't interested

He likes you and is trying to make you think he isn't interested, by using body language, that way you'll start to chase him, he has some game, and he def likes u, what do you think?

I don't know! He confuses me. I don't think he is doing this purposely to mess with my head though. You really think you can say he likes me just from this? Lol

Yes. It's a technique men in the seduction community use, it's high level, I use it too.

Just assume he likes you and go from there. Ask him out he will say yes 100%.
