What makes him avert eye contact?

I am interested in this guy and I feel like things are going well. We don't know each other very well right now, but I get the impression he likes talking to me and my company. He's very open with me as well and shares a lot about himself.

There is one thing he does that I don't get. If we see each other and make eye contact, he breaks it quickly and looks somewhere else.

There have also been times when I'll be looking in the other direction and when I look towards him he quickly looks away.. Is he trying to act like he didn't see me or something?

I have definitely caught him looking at me from far away but he doesn't avert his eyes then. Just if we are near each other?

But the thing is that if I do approach him he is nice and we usually have a good conversation. I generally get the idea that he is paying attention and is engaged and he will do good things like smile and even make extended eye contact.

I don't get it! Why does he avert his eyes so quickly when we are near each other?

He doesn't initiate talking to me so maybe he is just being polite when I talk to him? No idea.

I'm a shy guy and I know that I "always" look away when the girl I like looks back at me.. I can't seem to maintain eye contact. From what you describe I think that he might like you.. Be warned though because he might be looking at you because you were looking at him... But if he is the one looking at you first then chances are is that he probably likes you.

Can you give me any tips for me on how to tell if you're interested in a guy by eye contact? would very much appreciate it.. I am also going through something similar with a girl.

Oh okay! I defintely feel like he's the one looking first. It's kind of when I see him looking that he looks away. He even does that in conversation. Like if I break eye contact and look away, say something and look back at him, he usually looks away and smiles and says whatever he wants to.

If you catch a girl looking over at you a lot and she smiles then she probably likes you and wants you to approach. Shy girls might look away quickly if the guy looks back at them but if you catch her

Looking multiple times and looking away she's likely interested. Girls in general like to make lots of eye contact in conversation with guys they like. If you're talking to her and she's smiling and holding your gaze for a prolonged period of time she's likely interested.

And yea I do catch her looking my way. Sometimes it feels like she notices me before I notice her or at the same time. Also me and her do smile at each other at times. Like this has happened twice before: Me and her are hanging out with our friends and from across the room we would smile at each other but in a subtle yet obvious kind of way while talking with our friends and stuff hahah. And yea I noticed that she would glance at me multiple times as well..The other night she glanced at me quite a bit, which was a bit strange and while she was walking to her car she looked back at me(Of course I kind of pretended I wasn't paying attention but I was lol) This girl makes eye contact when she talks with just about anyone so I'm not sure.

That alone isn't enough to say she's interested, but her smiling and looking is a good sign! Try talking to her and getting things going!

But before the other night about a 2-3 months ago I acted uninterested towards her and kind of ignored her(I know I'm such a horrible person |:) and I think she might have seen that and she kind of seemed sad or something? I don't know if it was just me thinking too much but it felt like it... After that I started ignoring her and stuff she left the social group(probably because of school and other reasons).. Hm, hard for me to say if she was sad because I wasn't there lol. But you need to show some interest in her! Her smiling and looking at you means she would at least like to talk to you as a person if nothing else. I say make yourself talk to her next time you see her. You'll get less anxious over time and it will boost your self confidence because you approached her, so you'll have even more confidence for next time! Good luck :)

OBVIOUSLY shy as fuck. If he is staring at you he probably likes you, some people just can't hold eye contact, probably shyness/awkwardness as well.

It's weird, because I briefly look into people's eyes and then I quickly look at something behind them. I do it because I'm just socially awkward like that, so maybe it's the same with him? :O

And if someone suddenly looks me in the eye I instantly turn away mind you :P

He looks away because he may not like you catching him staring. He sounds a little shy or he may not want to take the initiative because he feels that although he likes you, you may think of him as a platonic friend. If you do like him then you may have to be the one that takes the initiative.

A lot of guys are just afraid of creeping a girl out, and that's the reason they're afraid to hold eye contact with a girl. If he's polite and he seems interested when you talk to him there's a good chance he's interested. Why not ask him out?
