The 7 Cons Of Being Anonymous In The GaG Community

I mentioned months ago, here, the 7 reasons why I enjoy being Anonymous. Although I still prefer being Anonymous I believe this side has its downs as well. Those 7 downs are:

1) Bad Reputation

Anonymous are pussies. Anonymous are cowards. Anonymous are this. Anonymous are that.

Not that I care much, but damn it's really unfair being judged for choosing to go anonymous.

2) Being misunderstood for your age.

Well this happens mostly, if you belong towards the end of each age group. For example I'm only 5 months away from turning 25 and move on to a new age group. So being listed as 18-24 I feel degraded, mostly by the fact everyone assumes I'm in my late teens unless I mention my age.

3) Feeling Underrated

Since Anonymous Posts appear on the bottom of each question, it makes me feel being underrated, and they don't get much attention from the Asker. Also I should mention I have less chances to win in a Contest, especially if the contest is based on Likes.

4) I cannot answer a question if Asker doesn't allow Anonymous Users.

There've been times I wanted to answer to someone's question but once I noticed they don't allow anonymous users, I'm like Damn, I should leave from this question. I cannot answer.

5) I cannot comment on others' post.

I've found myself multiple times wanting to comment on someone else's post, but I couldn't because I wanted to keep my anonymity. I know why it's not allowed to comment anonymously, but still...

6) I cannot tag other GAGers.

I have mentioned multiple times about this issue, and I wish we could tag others anonymously. For example someone else (apart from the Asker) comments in my post. And if I want to reply to him/her I have to ask from the Asker to tag him/her so he/she can see it.

7) Your Questions get less attention.

If you ever go to No Opinions section, then you will notice most unanswered questions are coming from Anonymous users. Sometimes I have to send messages to various users in order to answer a question of mine, so I can close it and answer a new one, since this Closed Questions Feature started.

7 Pros and 7 Cons in total. So it's a draw.

Although even if it is a draw I still choose to go anonymous. Since I started going anonymous why should I stop? Also #2 won't be an issue anymore once I turn 25, so we'll have 7 Pros and 6 Cons by then.

I agree with your assesment. One thing is also I think they don't like they can't judge them, since they can't view their other questions

Don't worry homie. People are always judging somebody. A lot of times it's to make themselves feel more important. (Narcissists) also, don't worry about the age thing either. I'm 32 and people still judge me on age even in the real world. Besides, I met this 15 year old on here who was smart as f*ck. Don't let em get you down.

How much do you need to share to NOT be anonymous? First name? Email? Use a fake name or AKA type name instead. Dedicate a new email address just to this site-when signing up? I hate unreasonable rules, but when you play in someone else's yard, we have no choice, so what I mean is, I feel for ya.

Or you could just create a vague profile and username that doesn't have any personal information... I'm far less interested in interacting with someone who chooses to not identify themselves at all.

If you go anonymous, there are consequences. That's that.
