I agree that society is being more anti-male in a sense.. As much of the focus as on the wrong that males have done, and do.. It's understandable to have caution, and be aware of yo surroundins, but don't make us out to be the devil cause then you gon raise up males that'll take it some sort of way, and then have results that you don't like..

My distrust has been built by personal experience.
I've received counseling because I realized one day that I wasn't okay.
I was starting to suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome.
So I do apologize to all the nice guys because I know that there is more good out there than bad.

I don't think of myself as a nice guy but i will still accept your apology regardless 🙂 if that matters to you.

Recently I'm undergoing the same thing (recovering from having had prejudice against women being hypergamous gold diggers).
I have posted a question about it just yesterday.

@Unit1 it's great that you have changed your view on women
My distrust has come about because of my own personal experience.
I had a guy threaten to rape me one night because I got off the train by myself and the only thing that saved me was the that the guy who manned the security parking gates was still there.
I was at a party and a guy who must've thought that I'd had too much to drink, which I hadn't managed to push me into the toilet with him. He was so forceful that he'd ripped the buttons off my jeans and tried forcing me to sit on him. A male friend heard the commotion and stopped him.

I had gotten tired of the verbal abuse of a boyfriend and I decided to leave him and this is when he threatened to kill me. He stalked me for months and even threatened to have his mates come over and beat me up.
I had a picnic date with one guy and he tried to force himself onto me but a passer by over herd and intervened.
Even my husband who I thought could never harm me went through a stage where he'd drink too much and would get aggressive.
This is when I decided that I needed some outside help from a good counselor.

Please understand that I have never hated men, I don't think I ever could because where there's been an example of the bad here there's always been a good man that has intervened.
I think that having the most awesome dad has had a big impact on how I see men too.

Yeah. There are plenty of freaks out there 😐
I would never harm women since i realized, that my own prejudice was only eating me up and that women are actually amazing. Unless it's for self defense or retaliating, which i think happens very rarely.

I'm sorry for what has happened to you in the past but it's good, that you got out of trouble.
In these extreme cases i would always involve the police.

As you said, it’s men you have to worry about. And men that men have to worry about.

It’s good judgement to be aware on dark streets and whatnot. That doesn’t mean you have to fear every guy you’ve known your whole life or that you should trust females you don’t know.

Stats are experiences. I was molested by my own half brother and Dad my aunts beaten up by my uncles. That was the teaching I needed to know the world can be a rough place and you’re wise to be aware.

You missed a few statistics at the US DOJ and the FBI crime statistics. Like the one that say men are more likely to be victims of ALL form of violent crime save one, rape. Other than that, men are more likely to be murdered, robbed, or assaulted. So yes, society is batshit fucking retarded for making women think men are out to get them when in reality, men are the ones more likely to get hurt.

I would rather be robbed or assaulted than being raped. Concerning murder, yes it's highly likely for a man to be murdered, but it's highly likely for a women to be killed by someone they know.

As I pointed out to someone else, that just makes the case that both men and women should fear men, not that either sex should fear men any less. It's also crime specific. Parents fear their daughters will be kidnapped or raped, something men are far more likely to do to women above that of men. And even in muggings, female victims were more likely to be attacked during the muggings, then their male counterparts.

Don't get me wrong. I do not believe all men are horrible rapists and muggers and murderers out roaming the streets like packs of wild dogs, but blindly trusting strangers will not cause you harm isn't exactly the wisest move, and that doesn't just apply to would be criminals, but life in general. People have to show you who they are and unfortunately that can't really be done well in the middle of the night walking alone on the street with someone potentially following you.

Where do you get the idea that women are "more likely to be attacked" during a mugging than a man? A mugging IS an attack, and men are more likely to be mugged so that statement is asinine. Men are far more likely to be the victims of violent crime than women, and the violent crime women are likely to be victim to, sexual assault and rape, is most often perpetrated by someone KNOWN to the victim. So your entire premise that "women should fear strangers" is also asinine. It does not fit the facts. What women should do is stop kidding themselves. Fear is only useful as a tool if you can back that fear up with teeth, but just trying to keep everyone at arm's length is stupid. If you meet someone bigger and stronger than you who intends to make you their victim, no amount of caution is going to save you. What women need to do is take their safety and security into their own hands. You are the first and last line defense of your own person. Act like it.

I have had a Woman that i was walking behind stop and turn around to confront me. It was pretty awkward. I get the feeling that she was scared. I can't imagine what it would feel like to be afraid that someone was going to attack you from behind. I felt really bad for her and tried to give a friendly smile.

The majority of offenders of violent crimes are men, but so are the majority of the victims. From a biological perspective, men are LESS likely to hurt women than other men, because we have a primitive instinct to protect women and children, and to keep them from harm, even women we have no connection with.

I think that just makes the case that men AND women, should fear men, but you also have to look at the type of violent crimes as well and why it is that women are cautioned against men. Do I think a man is more likely to get in a violent fight with another man, 100%. Do I think a man is more likely to rape a woman than another man, 100%. I've never been taught to fear that a man is going to punch me in the face outside of avoiding abusive relationships, but rather the other things he may do. Clearly as a clear thinking adult, I'm not here saying all men are scary and need to be feared because they're likely to do something to me, but the cautions are there for a reason, and the stats I'm sure played into those childhood warnings.

Well, if you take in prison rape, men make up somewhere around 67 % of rape victims. (I'm not sure of the exact percentage, but it was somewhere around that number.) So no, men are actually more likely to rape other men as well.
But you are completely correct in the first part, I do think that both men and women should be taught about the dangers in society. Men should also be told to take precautions when walking home at night, or to avoid certain areas during certain times. Granted, women are naturally more careful than men, which of course also explains why women are a lot more cautious about things like that, but the fact that women are taught about the risks while men are not is a huge factor as well. The world is dangerous, and it's always going to be dangerous. The only thing you can do is to minimize your risks of being attacked or violated, whether you're a man or a woman.

Great take... i can relate to it to an extent as my brother and father are always warning me against it... but my mother is kinda cool about this situation.
But you can't blame them too, we know where are they coming from, even though its a bit exaggerated reaction.

Women are taught to fear men... problem is, unless the police become brutal as fuck, women have good reason. Crime, particularly murder, has gone up drastically over the last few years, and unless a large change is made, it will continue to raise. I want you to imagine Chicago or Atlanta. Those crime rates will become common.

There is no major religion that supports the idea of the independent and self sufficient woman. Or that a woman is a man's equal. All women, were designed to support men to achieve their goal in life. And also fear them. Not the other way around. Even Greek Goddesses in Greek Mythology supported this way of thinking. Strange, right?

If we disregard major religions (Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Greek Mythology, Roman Religion, etc) and evolution which predominately supports this way of thinking, then you could say a woman is a man's equal.. Because woman like to be told this if given the choice..

Women naturally like to be told that they are their man's equal, but deep down, to their primal core, they want a man to make the decisions and lead... They just don't want to be told this because society has manipulated them into thinking that this is wrong.

It's mostly bullshit but there's always the odd psycho. Women just need to be sensible. Don't walk home late at night, take a bus or taxi. That goes for guys too, we might not get raped but we can still get mugged.

We all fear more men than women, it's just a natural thing. I've never learned to fear them because I got told to be careful, I learned because I got mugged with a gun while I had a job at a butcher shop when I was 11 or so. World's raw now.

I posted this earlier for another discussion, but it applies her also:

It's probably deserved! One reason why Christianity was put into place was to keep men on the straight and narrow. So it's no surprise that as men continue to turn away from God that they look more imbecilic and suspect in the eyes of the media and decent society. Feminism, the high divorce rate and the me too movement are simply the wages of sin.

Do men think it’s fair? No. It drives us -crazy-

We -know- some men are violent. We avoiding getting physically bullied by them growing up. We walk the streets giving space to other men aware some look for excuses to fight. The most common victims of male violence are other men. So when we get told that men need to be taught differently or men need to not make women unsafe we want to pull all our hair out.

“Men” as a group don’t get together and vote annually on how to treate women.

Absolutely. Everyone should have situational awareness wherever they go and with everyone they come in contact with. It's like an old Flight Chief I used to have would tell us every night before we went on shift: Greet everyone you meet with a handshake and a smile, but have a plan to kill everyone of them.

This does seem like an extreme case not being allowed out during the daytime in a neighborhood effectively as safe to walk through as Beverly Hills. The one crime that you would have to worry about that your brother would not carries weight but still.

Great writing. Those things were told to me, too. That men will harm me if I am alone in night on the street. Men will do this, men aren't good, men are bad, stay away from men, etc.

    And I am like,

But, they are just men. They are just people like us...

    Not all people are bad.

There really is a frustration about this because I know plenty of good men in my life. Men I love, men I trust, men I certainly don't fear, but when it comes to strangers, I don't believe it's wrong not to trust that they won't potentially harm you because they are a stranger. You can't know these things unless you get to know them, and walking alone at night trying to figure it out, isn't really the time, so I look over my shoulder, or walk with a friend, and practice precaution because the truth is we just can't know who's who all the time.

We always talk about how rape needs to be addressed in the U. S., but society only addresses male on female rape and never say anything about prison rape which happens a lot, but hey I guess those prison rape victims don't matter, after all, they're male and criminals

I think prison rape is an important issue, but I don’t think it’s totally comparable to rape that happens outside of prison. That said I think it’s a really big problem that society doesn’t acknowledge male rape victims.
