Obviously a man should have a say--his sperm helped create the baby, so he has half "ownership" over the baby.
@TheSpartan Is it about his scred sperm?
He can have some sperm back if he wants. Not his own maybe , but any guy will give him some that's as good or better. Thus if she needs/wants an abortion, she simply asks another friend to give the poor fukker some sperm and everything is OK.
It doesn't work that way, no. The principle comes down to John Locke's theories of property rights (which have been the basis for Western Law since the late 18th century). The principle is that if a human homesteads some form of land by mixing his labor with the land, he develops ownership over the land. In the same way, if a man mixes his property (his sperm) into an egg during sex, and a human is conceived, then he has half responsibility and caretakership over the human conceived. Thus, he has as much say over conceived human as the woman.
It is like if two shareholders both buy 5,000 shares of a company--both have equal power in corporate voting.
Sure, the abortion is the woman's choice ultimately, but if I don't want the kid, I don't want anything to do with it.
And I've got to agree with @gotc147, the current laws are frankly ridiculous on men. Why should we have to pay $30 000 on a child we never wanted ourselves?
A child that isn't even ours, the mother simply wrote down the guys name and claimed he was the father.
It depends on the dad. My mom left my dad when I was a baby and cut off contact with him. She said he was really abusive. My stepdad was awesome. But I always wondered what my real dad was like. I finally got to talk to him and he was pissed I contacted him.
Morally they should have a say, yes. It does effect them too. But legally, I a woman is in physical danger as in she may die if she carries out her pregnancy, the other shouldn’t be able to make her not abort. It’s complicated.
Yes, they should have a say especially when married. It's about time someone brings that issue up. My ex wife had an aborted while we were married and I completely disagreed but she still did it. I left her. This the reason why abortions should not be permitted only in special circumstances. It's about time that MAN OR FATHERS have a say.
Given that men will be expected to fund the child if she decides not to abort, I think they should be included in the process. And he may want the baby but she does not. It's not at all clearcut how changes should be implemented.
The woman should definitely consider what the man has to say. But in the end it should always be the woman who makes the final decision. Completely unfair to make any woman bear a child if she doesn't feel comfortable.
Hey, I'm a woman & I say the girl knew the risks of having sex when she wasn't ready to have a baby yet. Accidents happen regardless how safe you are. If the guy wants the baby, there should be something that can be worked out. Like maybe he should support her financially while she's carrying it or something. But its not fair that the guy can't keep his kid if he wants to. Too many guy friends of mine are silently suffering bc some girl decided to abort their child without their consent.
I think the child should have the final say whether or not he or she should be aborted. You know since they are the ones being killed. Not the mom or the dad.
I completely agree that men should have a say so. If your child is going to be murdered you should have a say so. Pro life sorry not sorry.
This is hard. I do agree men should have a say, but at the end of the day we're talking about her body so... Sad but true.
So, What about the women? Did they should have a say too?
Yes. It takes two make a baby, if man wants to step up and be a father to his unborn child then he should.
I feel you are right but in addition I also feel like of one of the parents doesn't want the baby they should legally beable to give up their father/motherhood so they don't have to pay child support
I agree. Gays can have children, why can't a single guy? He has to pay child support so why does he get no say?
Miss daniela, there is no yes and no or the guy gets a say, it's either he's a MAN or a male bug!
I already wrote my answer about this case, hope you like it and if not than it's okay too, that's the way i am 😏
I believe that if a women is willing to consent to sex then the man should have a say as to wether or not the child is abortEd. Pregnancy is always a chance. Also, smoking and drinking should be banned during the pregnancy.
Nope. Not your body. Once you have babies, have at it.
The man should not be able to force a woman to go through with a pregnancy because it is her body for those 9 months even if it is his child. However, unless there are circumstances like abuse or rape a woman should not be able to have an abortion without at least consulting the father.
Please please please don't ever say, "In conclusion.." to wrap up your thoughts :l
It should be if the father didn't consent and the woman had the sole right to kill his kid, he should have the sole right to kill her. One life for another. that seems fair.
Isn't the very act of deciding who gets an opinion on something based entirely on gender sexist? I think that it is ironic that this is a thing that feminism pushes which is supposed to be fighting sexism.
