How should I feel about being the only guy in my class?

Because I'm going to college later this month, although I won't know who will be in my class, I looked at pictures of the previous graduating class in my subject, and I swear they're all girls.

I'm kind of shy, sort of, depends on the day. The program is social service. I expect to be in a class of 30 girls?

This is going to sound jaded, but whatever you do, BE QUIET!

If you are truly in a class full of women, and just yourself, you will go a lot further in that social scenario by limiting your conversation.

Just like a room full of guys would ostricize a girl for certain dialogue if she was the only one in the room, the same could happen to you.

So be very, very quiet, and let them approach you for whatever it is they need to talk about.

Have an opinion, but only express it when it's absolutely necessary. And don't get emotionally charged if it's a debate.

Are you kidding me? If you are straight and don't have a girlfriend, 30:1 is a legendary ratio. I disagree with the last post. There is no reason to be scared. I think its time to lose the shyness. Sure, if there is a heated debate going on and you are shy maybe you avoid confrontation, but overall I think that's a great situation to be in.

women outnumber men at most colleges, so what you describe is simply an extreme example of that ratio.
