When a guy buys you food?

So I have a roommate and he's a guy. Sometimes he buys me food. Like we'll split groceries, but sometimes he wants pizza and he'll ask me what I want because it's cheaper to buy two. We used to take turns buying pizza, but since moving into the apartment, he's been buying it. He's also mentioned before that he has never bought food for anyone else, so I'm not sure if it's special treatment or it's because he knows I don't have as much money as he does.

My good guy friends buy me food all the time :) it's a nice gesture! Or maybe he feels like he should because you clean/cook/etc more?
