Why does he only hug me for a goodbye?

So I recently started hooking up with this guy - right now we are in kind of "grey zone" where it is really unclear where it's going (nor I'm sure what I want from it) even though he said he likes me, we haven't really discussed it at all. Anyway every time this guy only gives me a hug for goodbye - even if we were making out/having sex/cuddling 5 minutes ago, when we say bye I just get a hug. The last time I said I was going for a kiss so he did make out with me before I left, but it was clear that if I didn't ask, it would just be a hug.

In the past, there was a guy that I was seeing but it was mostly just hook ups even though we both really liked each other and he also always just gave me a hug in the end.

So is this like a common thing guys do? Or does it say something about where this is going? I mean why is he all over me one minute and then when I say I'm leaving he doesn't even kiss me.

Maybe he's one of those guys who doesn't want to kiss a mouth that has sucked his mean dick.

Maybe he prefers hugs and cuddling.

Maybe he doesn't think he's a good kisser.

Maybe it doesn't mean anything and you're overthinking it. If you want a kiss, just kiss him. tbh I think it's a little weird because I personally see no reason why he wouldn't do both or alternate between hug and kiss.

might be because it's not official. a kiss or a longer hug might be more personal to some than others.

it's a proper long hug though... but it just makes me wonder why, if literally 2min ago he was still all over me, i would much prefer a kiss

He is kind person, a gentleman. At this point I personally think, don't over analyze. He seems like he likes you. For deeper feelings, just wait a little. If it continues, just talk to him. Ask him clearly, where both of you stand.

It is the subconcious feeling guy for every person they like... i mean when you see your parents after a long time dont you quickly give them a hug.. thats it.. I think it this way!
