Does my crush like me or is he playing mind games with me?

Ok so I've had a crush on this sophomore (I'm a freshman) for a couple months now and before I noticed him a lot I would purposefully make us cross paths but since I've backed off of him almost completely ignoring him he has made eye contact with me more, smiled at me, held doors open for me, and a lot of other things as well so what do I do?

Personally, I don't understand why you would start to ignore him when you have a crush on him.
Why step backwards, when you could step forwards and get closer to him?
If you like him, then tell him that. Hopefully, he'll feel the same way. If he does, then he'll probably ask you out or something... A relationship will probably start.

You decide if you want to date him. He likes you and is trying hard for your attention. Almost ignoring him makes him try harder. If you like him, tell him!
