What does it mean when a guy hugs you from behind?

I've noticed that he randomly hugs me. It's always different hugs. He doesn't do that towards other females at least to my knowledge from what I've seen on his actions towards other girls.
The first time it was a one arm hug.
The second time it was a full hug, a great hug at that.
The third time it was a hug from behind. His arms were around my shoulders & neck and whispered hey. He usually smiles and says hey to me & that third time was unexpected for me.

Ooooh that is definitely a sign that he has an interest in you! or he is your boyfriend. Boyfriends and girlfriends usually give hugs from behind to their significant other's.

I've been told by a couple people he's gay but they have no evidence for that statement. I go to high school with him & I'm not sure how to feel about it since I've been told he's gay.
