Why do guys clench their jaw?

I have a lot of guy friends who clench their jaw but i don't understand why they do it...

He's Shy

he's hurt/in pain

It is a display of restraint in holding back anger. It is a warning to others that a confrontation is imminent. It is a way to hold ones tongue so as to avoid escalation and to prevent saying something that maybe can't be taken back.

you're welcome! and yes, i totally agree with you! That's why i asked ;) we don't exactly know when a man is angry (body sign) unless he yells or breaths heavily.

There are quite a few reasons. Most often anger or pain. Sometimes it's to keep from saying something that would be instantly regretted.

I'm a girl and I clench my jaw its a habit I pick up during the days I abused certain drugs but it never because I feel aggressive certain things trigger it but it not in aggression I don't think

Stressed out? That or really focused.

When ever i'm really focused or stressed my jaw tightens up.

Depends on the context but in terms of body language that's usaually a sign of anger/aggression.
