What does it mean a guy poked your nose?

We're in middle school. Ok, so me and my guy friend were sitting and I was reading this book that we had to read in class and I had this feeling that my guy friend was looking at me when I wasn't looking so I looked to make sure. When I looked he was staring at me and smiling and I just smiled back (I was really weirded out though) and I continued reading the book. Then my guy friend just snatched my back and he kept holding the book back so I wouldn't get it and I told him to give it back and we both had our hands on the book but he wouldn't give it back. Then I made a sad face and said please and he just smiled and stared at me then he gave it back. Then he just randomly poked my nose and I just laughed because he did that and he just stared and smiled at me for a second. So, what does it mean when a guy pokes your nose?
