That's a red flag, to me. If he's already possessive, and he -just- met you, what's he going to be like if you actually get close to him? Guys who do that come across as suffocating and controlling, in my opinion. To me, that's not a sign of liking you so much as feeling like he owns you in some way.

But there is a distinction between protective and possessive. Protective is like when a guy wants to make sure you're okay. He'll walk you to your car at night or stand up for you if someone's treating you badly. He'll want to make sure you're safe.

Possessive is like when you go to lunch with a group of friends, -one- other guy is there, and suddenly you're being interrogated. "Who was he? Why was he there? Do you like him? Did he make any moves on you? Are you trying to get with him?" Possessiveness is much more selfish.

I feel like you should just be careful and let him know that before and if you get into any kind of relationship that you'll need space sometimes.
