He told you he had feelings for you, you basically said you still wanted to date other people, not just him, so that's a blow to his ego, and he would feel pretty rejected and shitty, and figure he should distance himself if you don't feel the same way he does. But he'll take the sex if you're offering.

I never stated dating requries sex , you're the one who said you'll were fuck buddies and have uunprotected sex.
