What are some signs that a guy is interested in you, even if you both have never talked to each other?

I have a big crush on this guy. He looks at me a lot, before school when we stand around outside, when we pass each other in the hall, and in class. We looked at each other, but I always cut off the eye contact because I was way too shy to look back at him for very long. Sure enough now we sit next to each other in class. I don't look at him any more because it would be pretty obvious and I don't want to come off as being creepy, lol. He acts up in class a lot now, and he makes me laugh so much, so I like him for more than the fact I think he is cute, although my friends think he is ugly. Back to the subject I think he may not have approached me yet because of social stigma (he is popular, me not so much), I am not hot like teen guys like, and I am not within the norm. I don't even think I am attractive. Could eye contact be a sign that he is interested? What could be some other signs?

if you two are making eye contact in the halls and in the classroom he probably has a thing for you. I don't think looking at him will make you come across as creepy, it will let him know that you're interested in him.

Don't worry what your friends think. If he's a good guy and has the qualities you're looking for in a man then go for it. Everyone has their own preferences. I see that you're under 18 so I'm guessing High School. Social status is a big thing, but you'll notice as you get older that kind of disappears. If he's mature enough he won't mind about his status or yours.

Lastly, GET SOME CONFIDENCE! If you don't think you're attractive, why would anyone else think you're attractive? Believe in yourself and have confidence in your appearance and what you have to offer. If someone doesn't appreciate you for who you are then it's their loss.

As for signs go...if he's still making eye contact with you and you think there's a connection just approach him after class one day (since you mentioned he sits next to you) and start a casual conversation. Ask him what his plans are for the weekend.

Have you tried speaking to him, and seeing if his voice changes at all when he's talking to you versus when he's talking to anyone else?

Also, look at how his eyes move and how he blinks when he is talking to you.

If he is into you and hasn't approached you yet, one reason could be that he's shy around you, even if he's outgoing with everyone else. Social stigma could be a partial reason, but I wouldn't think it to be a full reason.

Another idea...send him an anonymous candy-gram for Valentines Day and see if he figures out it came from you.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me!

and I know this may not be helpful but I think that standing near him (not in a creepy way) and keeping eye contact can help you a lot.
