I would say that the actions you have enumerated say just that...not only does he thinks of you (call you) but what you think matters to him (he asks for your opinion)...the gifts...
As for the hotel room...why don't you visit him at his place...I know he lives an hour away...but you could try spending a week-end with him at his place and get a better feel of his life...his place...his neighbourhood...etc

I don't think so. Gifts are nice but they usually come with a price. He called you does not mean anything he probably wanted somebody to talk to while he was traveling. a rich guy could pay 250 for a hotel for mistress and still be married. it's no big deal when you have money. when he introduces you to his family and his closest friends to me that is a sign that he is seriously interested in you. also if he wants to make plans with you
Well this is a 50 year old guy were talking about who does not have a lot of money. I agree that introducing family and friends is the ultimate but these other factors are indicators that he is "on the path". Trust me, you are still young - guys don't do certain things unless they are really interested.
