What does it mean if he says 'sup'?

I know he likes me ( think so...) when I saw him he was smiling at me; really big grin and said 'sup' to me. I just wanted to know if that's cool or something or he just didn't care enough. His voice got lower/softer when he said it.. Thank you:)))
