+1 yYou have to think about it in this way tho, which MUSCLES are picking up the girl in this or that case? I mean I can lift a 310lb female up by her knees with ease. Since every muscle in my body would take part in that. While struggling to pick up a girl who only weighed 140lb due to my "shoulders/chest/triceps" not being used to being under that kind of stress (weight wise).
But yeah 120lbs isn't anything that you average man shouldn't be able to pick up if he lifts any kind of weights.

Yeah, those gym numbers tend to get "embellished." Especially when mentioned to female admirers. Frankly, unless I have seen it happen, I take any sentence starting with "I can bench. . . " with a truckload of salt.
You can't go by muscle mass, either.
You have seen him lift this much?11 Reply
He might be bragging on himself with better numbers about the gym. Or, it might just be the difference between being flat on your back pushing a bar versus lifting a woman. Your body distributed weight differently than a bar.
Although... I've never dated a guy who couldn't life me, despite all of them being unable to bench more than 20 lbs over what I do at the gym. 😂00 Reply
It's not exactly always the case actually, a trained girl can actually be way stronger than an untrained guy – though, guys are usually stronger than girls and find it easier to build muscle mass because they have more overall muscle tissue so chances are that a trained guy is most often stronger than an equally trained girl.

+1 yyou really should've paid attention in physics :/. for 1, girls aren't built like 3 inch bars that i can hold in my hands at equidistance... 2nd, all the weight is in front of me, whereas the weight of a dumbbell or bench bar is directly over you... it's called the area of support. if it's not under you and don't have adequate torque, it's impossible to lift almost anything. 3rd, lifting is repeated reps for short bursts, not long, drawn out lifting. 4th, the weight isn't distributed evenly 95% of things you lift. if i'm lifting a girl, about 60% of her weight is in her legs. lifting weights are balanced and equally distributed on both sides.
10 Reply Because you won't stop squirming! But also, humans aren't exactly rife with convenient handholds.
I've tried to bench a girl before - the only way to do it is to have one hand in her crotch and the other around her neck. A nice combination of potentially awkward strangling.10 Reply
+1 yYep, it's all for decoration.
Lots of reasons, 1) you are probably overestimated how much they can lift, 2) TVs and girls are bulkier objects than dumbbells or a barbell, 3) barbells don't move spontaneously.53 Reply- +1 y
It seems people don't understand the difference between bodybuilders, powerlifters and strongmen competitors

@Randomguy8182 people on gag don't understand much about anything fitness related tbh

www.girlsaskguys.com/.../a23450-bodybuilding-vs-powerlifters-vs-strongmen Wrote a take on it lmao
+1 yIt's actually scientifically because a body is awkwardly posed. Weights are perfectly symmetrical, and obviously humans have joints and they tend to off balance all the weight. Along with the fact that the center of mass is above the center of the body, lifting anyone, can be awkward.

+1 yIt depends on if he's telling you the truth on how much he lifts. But even so, it also depends on how he lifts. If he's only lifting a certain way, then that could explain it as some lifting only supplement some muscles. Depending on how he lifts you or the girl would depend on that previous statement.

+1 yBecause gym weights are built for lifting, lifting a girl or a couch with a different mass to weight ratios. You can still lift all those things but strength and mass are not equivocal. Half the big bulky massive guys have a difficult time lifting weights since all they focused on was building mass and looking good. Not strength.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yTwo things come to mind:
1. Working out in gym machines is training just a few muscles for lifting in a very particular and limited way rather than actual useful/functional strength - their core strength and balance and so on may be way off.
2. They may be bullshitting you about how much they can actually lift.00 Reply
+1 yIf that's the case then they have become, "Gym Strong" but not practically strong. That's what happens if you do all isolated exercises and nothing compound. You look buff but you're not strong where it counts.

Is it the same guys? 😆.. Maybe the ones lifting at the gym are not the same guys picking up stuff at home.. 😧

+1 yIt's easier to grip dumbbells which are designed to be lifted whereas a TV or a person is not. It's all about the size and weight distribution of the object
10 Reply
+1 yBecause weights are designed to be picked up. They are compact, and have handles, and are generally lifted through your muscle's optimal path. Humans are giant, irregular bags of water, with a center of gravity far away from your own.

+1 yPerson weight vs. heavy weight are two different types of weight distribution. Just physics.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt might not be the weight of the tv box but some have really odd shapes where there's really no good way to get a grip it.
You seem really offended by this.12 Reply
Asker+1 yLol no, not at all. I find it hilarious and ridiculous that they have all this muscle for nothing😂
Opinion Owner+1 yI don't see guys having problems lifting up girls. Not sure what guys you've been observing. Hell a lot of scrawny guys can pick up their girlfriends.
quite simple. Weights at the gym have spread out weight. Girls or tvs usually have sides that weigh more making balancing harder.

Difficult to lift or move without proper conditioning. But 120 pounds is basically nothing00 Reply
+1 yIt takes little effort to lift a girl that size and I don't lift. If they said they lift 220 and can't pick up 120 pound you, they lied
04 Reply- +1 y
Not necessarily, don't forget the bar has its weight going directly down onto you with a clear centre of gravity, she would be moving about spontaneously so it could be harder to lift
- +1 y
@Randomguy8182 that's true. But 120 doesn't wieght shit and its a non dense 120. It is distributed evenly. I'm not that strong. Average maybe a little above
- +1 y
How do you figure its distribution is even? Most of it will be lower body, limbs would be moving etc thus messing up the distribution. I'm not saying it's hard I'm just saying it depends on how they pick them up, I got no difficulty doing it just saying some would dependent on a lot of factors like their height, density as in if they are muscular at that weight or fat, and how they are being picked up
- +1 y
@Randomguy8182 wieght distribution can be debated I guess. Either way. All you do is carry her bridal style. Lower body in the dominant arm cause it weighs more. Anyway all good points. Good talk we had:)
I'm the opposite. I can't bench anywhere near 220 pounds, but I can totally lift a 120 pound girl.
