So I posted a myTake about bodybuilding stereotypes and there is a lot of misconception with the comments, things along the lines of he isn't strong out of the gym or what's the use of the muscle if they can't do this or can't do that so I just want to clear a couple things up.

Bodybuilding
Bodybuilding is all about aesthetics, hence why the have contest where they pose and get marked on definition and symmetry of their muscles.
They don't train for general strength, they don't do it so they can pick heavy stuff up, generally they don't really care about how much they can lift for a single rep, they aim for their 8 rep fields etc to gain muscle not strength so much.
Powerlifters
Powerlifters are different from bodybuilders as they go for seer strength, their entire training process is training for pure strength, they care about their single rep lifts because that is how they are judged, generally they carry more body fat because it gives them more power. But again they aren't training to carry everyday things etc so out of the gym yea they might not be as strong
Strongmen
These are the guys that you see in things like the world strongest men, they are another version of powerlifting in a sense except they lift different types of weight and do more conventional types of power such as pulling trucks and carrying heavy weight objects like tyres etc. again aesthetics don't mean shit to these guys they are all about power so be it fat or muscles they put on a lot of weight to add power so they Can lift more, these are the types of guys that you would probably see as strong in everyday aspects.
As it goes very few people compete in more than one of these type of lifting, off my head I can only think of three who competed in both powerlifting and bodybuilding and they are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronnie Colemen and Layne Norton. Very few actually do more than one if these and I can't think of any who have competed bodybuilding and strong man. I hope this clears up some of the misconception here.
