Why do guys like holding women while sleeping?

I am just curious, but do you guys hold women because they want to be held, or rather because you want to hold them? And if so, how does that make you feel?

First, I'm a TOUCHER. I enjoy touching my girl. I like her to sit next to me, lean against me, and I like having my hands on her, sexually and otherwise. It's intimate and comforting.

Second, I like being in control of the things in my life, so if I can touch her, I know where she is and how she's doing and that she's okay.

Third, most women really enjoy being held and feeling protected and loved, and I kind of feed off of those feelings that she's experiencing.

I actually sleep much better with a girl in my bed than I do alone - unless she's a blanket thief (in the winter), that is.

There has been a stigma for a looooooong time that men don't like cuddling, and if they ever participate in it, that they are only doing it to get laid.

In my case at least, that's FAR from the truth. In fact, I've liked cuddling more than all of my exes.

So yeah, in my case, I'm not doing it as a favor to her, I'm doing it for myself. Why? I don't know. It just feels good, both physically and emotionally. The warmth and security feels good, and it also has a soothing effect. And not just when i sleep either. I like cuddling any time.

actually a survey asked men what the number one trait they wanted in a wife and 70% said she had to cuddle. So I honestly don't know how this myth go started but we have statistical proof that proves it false (personally I'm a cuddle whore so I don't see how any one couldn't like it)

@hellionthesage Ikr? It even seems as if the average man likes cuddling MORE than the average woman. The stigma is complete BS, and i have no idea where it couldve came from either.

It does seem that way to me as well. Its weird. Honestly my ex was convinced that I enjoyed it more then sex (I don't know if I would have gone that far but. . . its pretty damn close)

I obviously don't know the guys view on this, but I love being held when we're sleeping. Once I fell asleep in bed by myself (he was on the computer playing a game) and I woke up in the middle of the night a little disoriented. I realized that he was asleep with his arms around me. It made me fell all warm and fuzzy inside and I went back to sleep with a smile on my face :)

Why wouldn't you like to cuddle? I like to hold her and I would hope she would like to be held, its intimate and soothing and its good for you too (it releases oxytocin in the brain to cuddle that creates emotional bonds and elevates moods).

Women smell and feel good, and touch is VERY important psychologically. There's been extensive research done on this using humans and chimps.

Cuddling is a male thing as far as I am concerned. Never met a guy who didn't like it. met plenty of girls who didn't like it.

As for holding women specifically? I don't know. I like it but at the same time I think my partner likes it more.
