Do girls smile at ugly guys?

Question

Sometimes I will turn and accidentally make eye contact with a girl and she gives me a quick smile...

So would a girl smile at an ugly guy, or would they at least have to be decent looking for a girl to smile?

It depends on the type of smile. It could be a small, polite but somewhat awkward smile to not so attractive guys just to be polite or a wider smile to more attractive guys. Pay more attention to the eyes than the smile because the eyes give away the feeling behind the smile. Sad looking eyes may go with a smile more intended for a guy you don't feel to be attractive. Brighter eyes go with a smile for a cute guy that you might be interested in and seems more flirty. It can be hard to tell even from looking in the eyes of the girl and this is just what I do and what my friends notice about me but I think a lot of other girls do this too. first off, why are you assuming you're ugly? lol

secondly, if anybody smiles at me (and it's not some massive freaking creeper) I smile back. it's an automatic reaction regardless of physical appearance. I smile at old ladies, kids, cute guys, nice girls. if you're offering me a friendly smile of acknowledgment, I'm obligated to return the kind gesture :)

What's a smile going to hurt? It doesn't really matter to me whether you're attractive or not, of course l'll smile at you! It's just nice, and sometimes it'll make someone's day; it certainly makes mine on occasion. I guess I'd just hope you'd smile back ha ha : )

I think the sweet girls will smile at anyone. The stuck up ones who think they are better than everyone else wouldn't smile at an ugly guy. So your answer: is some do, some dont. Depends on the girl!

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You probably consider yourself ugly but to a girl she probably finds you attractive. I smile a lot in general wheather a guy is attractive or not. I actually do the opposite of most girls, because if I am really attracted to a guy I won't smile at all because I don't want to give it away that I fancy him.

Yes, because personality comes before looks. It doesn't really matter what you look like. If I like you, I'll think you're good looking, no matter what you looked like when I first met you. So whether you're "ugly" or not, if I like you, you're not ugly to me.

But yeah I tend to smile at strangers sometimes just out of politeness... instead of looking away blankly. If the look lingers or it's a big flirty one then I like them. You're looking into it too much though hah

I am naturally a "smilely" person, so I smile at pretty much everyone, plus I'm a sales assistant so I smile constantly to everyone anyway... it doesn't matter how a person looks, its always nice to give a smile!

It all depends on the personality of the girl. Personally, I would probably offer a small smile and quickly look away, but it would have nothing to do with his looks. I'm shy and self-conscious, so it's not ME to give a "lingering" look or smile to anyone, no matter what they look like.

If I accidentally make eye contact with someone and it catches me off guard, I usually do try to smile at least a little bit, even if I don't think they're attractive.

(That was a joke.) Anyway, they do. There are those "decent" and "polite" girls that smile at everyone when their eyes meet with someone else. They even smile at total strangers.

A polite smile for me is a slight smile regardless of looks.  If I'm blushing, or attracted to someone I'll smile wider and show some pearly whites to attract more attention. Bnwsmile

Humans not only girls, smile at anyone. its just a simple awkward tension breaker. I think its evolutionary too, if an animal didn't want to fight it made a gesture or sound. For us, we smile to lighten the situation.
