Why are tech guys so awkward?

I work as an assistant for an tech company and we are pretty close, I genuinely enjoy talking to the people who work there. However this one guy just has a difficult time with me around. He is always hyper aware of my presence and will go out of his way to be polite/ hold doors for too long/or invite me to tech events with him (which I never needed to go too). He is noticably awkward/ nervous around me to the point were he forgets what he is talking about. He does this thing where he tries to make himself look bigger by stretching and puffing out his chest and talks about how he is sore from the "gym".

What is this guys deal? He isn't like this to anyone else. Even his closest buddies are noticing!

Please don't stereotype us like that, I'm a total IT nerd where IT is what I study, what I do as a job, what I do as a hobby, I nickname my source code "baby blossom" and have no shame about it... LOL.

On a more serious note though, there might be the possibility that this guy likes you. From what it sounds like, it's the typical "shy guy likes girl" syndrome. He is trying to be friendly to you while it's making you feel awkward and I understand that. Just tell him off like you would do to any other guy (hopefully you're nice about it).

There's a chance he's attracted to you. It's difficult for me to focus around one of my workmates because she's physically attractive in the infatuating sense. I talk to her but sometimes I'm kinda awkward. It's weird!

But we're incompatible and I'm taken so it's irrelevant. The feeling is still there though. It's actually pretty annoying! Ah well, it's part of life.

I am in IT and we have 2 girls at most in the class at any given time. We do not know how to interact with them very well so we are nervous anyway. Now add in the factor that he is probably attracted to you and you get high levels of awkwardness. I am bad at talking to girls in general but I have absolutely no idea what is socially standard for interactions with the female I am attracted to.
