Guys, do you only hold eye contact with girls you find attractive?

I've noticed that this one guy holds eye contact with me a lot but I can't tell if it's just a coincidence that we hold eye contact for a while or if he actually finds me attractive. He doesn't give any sort of facial expression when he's looking at me - just a blank face, staring right into my eyes.

By the way, he's sort of a guy friend but not exactly...more like my friend's friend and whenever I'm around my friend and he's there, I notice him in the corner of my eye staring at me an when I look at him, he doesn't look away and looks as though he's trying to study me.
Sometimes when he's laughing in the group he looks at me again and holds eye contact for a few seconds. P.S 'Appealing' as in 'Attractive'.

Guys are visual by nature, so eye contact is key. Its our way of showing you our confidence. Of course, it takes even more confidence to actually approach the girl. Sounds like this guy is somewhere in the middle.

But remember, its actually you females that initiate flirtation. Us guys are waiting for some spark in your eyes that tells us you wouldn't mind if we came over to talk to you. So its important that you give him the 'come hither' look that guys like so much.

Maybe he hasn't said anything yet because he's waiting for that look. If you think you've already given it than he's either not noticed or is nervous about talking to you. If his look is borderline creepy, but you're still interested in him, try asking what's with the 'stare'. In a non-threatening way, of course. Hopefully, he'll than feel compelled to explain himself or at least start talking to you.

Generally speaking the more attractive she is to me the more I'm gonna try for eye contact. Usually I like the shy ones, and eye contact is a very easy way to establish that trait.

If she's shy she'll usually look away first, fidget when I hold eye contact, etc.

Honestly it's just sort of fun to watch her squirm a little with it.

But I think he's into you or he wouldn't devote that much of his attention to you that regularly.
The blank stare is a bit odd... Maybe not used to flirting I suppose? After a while a blank look with a state kind of keeps a girl out.

I'm going kind of the same thing. There's a boy I know and he just won't stop staring at me, even when I look over at him, he won't break the eye contract. At first I thought it was creepy, but when I asked some guys about it, they said that when a guy looks at you like that, its because he thinks you're cute, but he doesn't really know how to come talk to you.

If he hasn't really said much to you, maybe its because he's shy and doesn't want to approach you in fear that you'll reject him somehow. Now when you catch him looking at you, smile at him and see if he smiles back. A smile means SO much and if he gets that from you, it'll give him confidence to come and talk to you.

If he's still quiet and hesitant to talk to you, do what TheSoveriegn said and go ask him about it in a causal non threatening way.

There are many possibilities;

1) He's a stranger who doesn't care about you; was just staring into the distance or staring blankly at nothing. When you looked at him he realized he was accidentally staring at you and thus looked away.

2) He thinks you look weird.

3) He thinks you look pretty.

4) He has a crush on you.

5) He is contemplating talking to you.

Meh, or either Either he is shy, respects you or loves you.

It means nothing. Guys stare when they're bored, when they find you attractive at a certain point, when they want attention from a girl and see if they can get yours (in which case he did)... doesn't mean they like you, unless he acts on it/tells you so.

Not being able to hold eye contact shows fear... dudes, chicks, it doesn't matter. That's what society has taught me to think.

Psychology courses has taught me that prolonged eye contact means 1 of 2 things... sexual drive or predation. So if he's not doing it in a context of skinning you like a deer and wearing your flesh while he does his little pooky dance while watching Willy Wonka, then I'd say he probably wants to bone you.

... I mean if any dude keeps staring at my chick, that dude wants to bone my chick and he needs to get beat up.

Depends. The confident ones, will look at you and smile and cannot take their eyes off you. Sometimes they linger too long, I get self conscious if I have spinach on my teeth 🤣 or my face starts to flush.

The shy ones will steal glances and will look at you long enough to memorize your beautiful face and then look away. But you will know they are into you when they’re everywhere 😂 and their body language don’t lie.

I try to hold eye contact in a conversation, because that shows that I'm interested in what they are saying, doesn't Particularly mean that i find them "attractive" maybe just nice. I struggle more with holding eye contact with someone a have a crush on or who i find attractive.

Conversely a man who isn't confident will not exhibit this behavior. He will just always look away no matter what.

I have a bad habit of avoiding eye contact with girls I find attractive. My dumbass 2nd grade teacher gave a lecture to the class about how the boys shouldn't stare at girls cause it makes them feel uncomfortable, and 8 year old me wanting to avoid upsetting my peers began to force myself not to stare. Eye contact to see if he can goes on.
If you want to verify if he wants something, next time he makes it, get closer or start fitting the lips together as if you were to kiss him, I think he will understand.
