WHY DO GUYS STOP TEXTING A GIRL THEY LIKE SUDDENLY?

So me and this guy met in college and we both really like each other. We text and flirt back and forth a lot (especially since we can't meet up easily because we live far away from each other). Everything was going okay, our last convo ended normally (I texted him, he responded normally & that was it) he didn't show any signs of disinterest or anything & we're on good terms. Then out of nowhere the texting stopped. It's been 2 weeks now without us speaking.. He's been active on social media too, and still not talking to me. I'm so confused, nothing bad was going on between us, why is this happening..

I want him to text me first because I don't want to come off as desperate & I keep thinking if I text him first it's as if I'm basically reminding him I exist & kind of begging him to talk to me (I also want to see if he truly does care).. Why would a guy do this to a girl he likes? And guys, what should I do in this situation, should I text or is that going to scare him away/would he like it or it's better to wait or what? I really miss him and wish we can go back to talking like we used to..

Either...

- the distance is too much for him
- he met someone else and they have stronger chemistry
- his ex is back into the picture working her charms

Usually in a situation like this where you can visibly see he's not dead or in acoma or too busy because he's frolicking on Instagram, it's possibility 2 or 3.

A guy would do this to a girl he likes because he may like her but he may not be convinced that she's the girl for him or there may be another girl he likes just as much. Or he's one of those annoying, draining, "complex" guys who doesn't know what he wants so he unintentionally plays stupid little confusing games instead of just being upfront. Do not text him. I repeat: DO NOT TEXT HIM. Let him come to you. Occupy yourself with some fun, enjoyable activity and the company of friends in the mean time.

I am literally in the exact same situation as you omg
I'm hoping he just doesn't know what to text you and that's why he doesn't text first. Have you been the one initiating all the time? Or is it 50/50 and he just stopped initiating this time?

It's 50/50.. I don't know what to do, sometimes I think it's okay to text him first and just get it over with and see what happens and then I think to myself no, why doesn't he text first..

Honestly I wish I knew but I'm going through the same thing and I'm wondering why he doesn't text first too haha
But whenever I start doubting myself I just tell myself that it shouldn't matter who reaches out first, just that the person you're reaching out to reaches back.

That is true. Do you think it would be a bad idea if I reached out first (would you do it in your situation)? I mean wouldn't it be awkward after 2 weeks? I don't even know what to say if I do end up going through with it.. He used to say stuff like he always wants to talk to me but he doesn't want to bother me, but that was before we got this close, I mean obviously now he doesn't bother me by talking to me..

I think it's fine if you reach out. With the guy I'm interested in I've actually been reaching out most of the time so what you have going on with that guy is better than mine haha.

Girl I get you we have all been through this. My advice is to continue with your life dont wait for him to call you. If he is interested TRUST ME HE WILL CALL no matter how shy he is.

We don't live that far away from each other, plus he suggested to meet up a couple of times before but he had problems with his car so he couldn't make it..
As a guy, what do you think I can do to get him to text me or talk to me again? Or would a guy like it more if the girl texted him first in such a situation?

You're right, I am reasoning my way out of it.. But it's just that I keep thinking if he cared about me like I cared about him, wouldn't he have said something by now? And is it a good idea to even text him first now after 2 weeks, wouldn't it be awkward (I wouldn't know what to say)?

I did this to a girl because I realized it was futile and wouldn't work out. I can only wait for so long for a girl to reciprocate my attempts to initiate something with her.
