How to handle a shy guy in the talking stage of dating?

So I met a guy at a party last month and got on really well with him. Afterwards I asked some mutual friends of ours about him and they said he's actually really quiet and shy and inexperienced with girls and it was just the "liquid courage" of alcohol that would've helped him approach/talk to me. He added me on Facebook and messaged me the next day asking how I was and stuff before adding me on snapchat as well. We have spoken online a few times since then and he's really nice (but kinda a little awkward) asking me heaps of questions and stuff but it comes in fits and starts... usually when I'm in the talking stage with guys they message me regularly before eventually arranging to meet up but this guy only contacts me about once a week or so. Should I be worried? How do I handle this situation? I tend to leave it to him to initiate chat but have myself once or twice... I don't want to come on too strong/eager though! Thoughts?

Shy guys give up fast. They look for any reason to see the girl isn't intrested an abort mission. It's to protect them. That's why he's kinda feeling u out first. He contacts you once a week. But he expects you to do the same otherwise he'll assume your unintrested. by the way set something up. You kinda have to do this if he's inexperienced or prompt a response. When it comes to shy people you don't have to be over eager to get your point across. Being eager is talking constantly but setting up a date is clear assertiveness. He will appreciate that. The longer you elongate this texting stuff the more awkward it will be in person again
