Well, in the more obvious, chase/pursue/wooing a girl is the action taken and like/love is the descriptor for how one feels about another.

Men can chase/pursue/woo a girl just to get sex. Without any actual feelings other than lust involved.

Since life isn't a Disney movie, you generally aren't going to fall in love with someone until well after the chase is over.
