What does it mean when a guy asks for your snapchat?

I helped this guy in math class and one day he asked for his friends snapchat and he gave it to him and the teacher was about to start class but there were some people still talking so he then asked me if I had snapchat and I shook my head yes and he took my phone and added himself then he friended me back right away and still to this day were still friends on there and watch each others storries all the time.
