Cause its important for a man to not only look... But also behave in a way his girl wants him too... And the only way he can know that he is behaving or able to present himself that way you see him... Or to show him... Is by asking you...
I'd say he wants to be appealing to you. Probably he's just interested in looking good, but I sometimes find myself curious about whether a girl likes the way I dress, walk, wear my beard etc.
Probably because he wanted to hear a female's opinion about that.

he wants to abandon the beard and is sending you a cry for help. no good will come of it. you must at all cost convince him that its the source of all power he's trifling with and to abandon his post now is treason of the face and neck area.

Probebly a new style he's trying and dosnt really know if it looks good on him.
I think its pretty harmless so long as he doesn't ask if his beard turns you on or something like that lol
