Is it possible that mixed signals are a result of insecurity?

I've been seeing this guy for a little while now and I just can't tell if he wants to make it official or if he just wants to hook up, I get a lot of mixed signals. After our second date he said he had his heart broken by the only other girl he's ever dated so.. could it be possible that his behavior of mixed signals is because he's insecure or afraid of rejection? He acts like he really likes me sometimes and then other times I'm just not sure because he won't text me back and doesn't really ask to hangout that often. Thanks everyone!

Is he seeing anyone else? By being really interested in you one day, then totally distant the next, I wonder if he's seeing another girl. If he was extremely hurt, I doubt he would run so hot-and-cold.

It's possible but I doubt it. I think when you truly like someone you make it crystal clear that you like them

No. He simply wants to get laid. You are trying to look for things that are not there
