My crush keeps blocking me and then unblocks me on whatsapp. Why does he do this?

This guy and I both like each other but it's nothing serious. We speak every other day since the last 2 months. However, he blocks me and then after a few hours unblocks me. Sometimes he pops up straight away after he has blocked me and sometimes he pops up hours after he has unblocked me. He only blocks me on whatsapp. Im not sure why he does it. Is it for attention or what? I've called him out in the beginning when he first did it and he said there was a technical problem with his phone and stopped doing it for a while. Then he started again. Is this common? What's the reason behind it?

and that's exactly how i behave
except i don't block them i just ghost on them until i feel different and then reappear.
