Ex still calls me the nickname he gave me. Why?

After a 4 month break-up, my ex and I began to talk again over text. I realize he still calls me by the nickname he gave me while we were still together. I feel strange when he does it. I want to know by he is calling me still by that nickname? I just feel like that nickname belonged to me when we had something special together... but not now.
