A guy friend put his arm around me does it mean anything?

I have this friend and we've been friends for about 4 years now, I have had a small crush on him for around a year now. People have told me that he likes me but then there is evidence that he doesn't. Last night we were watching a movie with a few other friends and we were sitting next to each other. Sometime during the movie he put his arm around me and rubbed my arm a little bit. What does it mean? I know it could just mean nothing but I am kinda hoping it means something a little more
