What do I do when my boyfriend told me he's lost interest?

For the past week, my boyfriend was acting distant towards me on the phone, and giving me attitude, and I sensed that something was up with him, because for the 8 months that we have been together, he's been so sweet with me on the phone...always in a good mood. This hasn't been the case recently.

Because I was aware of this, yet apprehensive to even say anything (I wanted to avoid a fight), I acted distant in return and never really said much when talking. Today, I finally broke down and asked him what was up. He broke down and told me that I he "is losing interest in me". Hearing this broke my heart. Deep down inside I felt as if this was the case, but I didn't want to believe it. We fought, and sort of resolved things, but down inside I wanted to leave him...but I also want to be improve things between us...would it be possible to continue a relationship with a guy who's says he's losing interest in me or is there hope in saving the relationship? I'm an idiot, but I'm going to share my opinion with you, anyways. I hate the idea of trying to force a relationship to work. Problems arise, sure, but when one or both of the people in the relationship lose interest, there is really nothing that I think can be done. I would think that after eight months the two of you have settled into being with each other and the spark of new someone has diminished somewhat. If he hasn't adapted and maintained interest, in the now routine aspects of your relationship, maybe it's time to call it quits. I think it is possible to attempt to make things more interesting between the both of you, but I think after a while he would revert back to being uninterested. I also feel like you would be trying to change yourself to appeal to him, which I don't think anybody should have to do. I would like to think that if two people were actually in love, the idea of losing interest would not be a major issue. I'm not Captain Romantic, so this information may be totally useless to you.
