Why does he glare at me?

This question had been bothering me for a while, and I was really curious why.

There was this guy who I used to be friends with, maybe even close friends. We used to get along well. However, he started giving me a cold shoulder the next year. I don't mean by ignoring me entirely. He started glaring at me even though I did nothing to offend him. He would just glare at me whenever our eyes meet, as if I did something, but all I did was look at him.

I didn't really understand why, but even if we were talking to each other, we didn't really have friendly conversations. I didn't really understand how I was treated this way, even though he said I was his friend.

My guess would be you may have done something indirectly, like hurt someone's feelings he was close to or he might have just heard some rumors of you saying stuff behind his back. There's so many possibilities.
