I'd say to an extent, yes. I've been told that it's the path that I should strengthen because I'm not crazy outgoing. I think if you are completely distant then a girl might feel like you are aloof and not interested. I'd say be open to talking to people, but like another answer said: give off the vibe that you can walk away with no attachment at any time. Just like being the "jerk" or "asshole" takes fine tuning to do it comfortably, I think the same applies with being mysterious. You can't be too distant, but at the same time you can't force it. Just allow yourself to do what you want to do without worrying about it. Display an almost "wanderer" type of attitude, like you are a free bird and aren't glued down to one spot in life. That is sort of how I act without effort, so it's important to first have a natural attitude that suits then. After, see if you can find quirks to compliment your attitude.

I want to get to know a guy. I like a guy who feels comfortable sharing things about himself with me. I don't want to be wondering, "What is this guy hiding?"

On the other hand, I don't want a guy who lays everything out on the table right from the get-go. It's a turn-off to know all of a guy's baggage within the first few meetings. Part of the fun of flirting and dating is getting to know a person over time---but it's also attractive to know that someone likes and trusts you enough to WANT you to get to know them or share secrets with you.

I've been with my partner for 4 years, and by this point, he's in no way "mysterious" to me, but I still love the times when I learn something about him that I didn't know. It makes me feel special that I have the chance to get to know someone so intimately and learn things about him that most other people don't know.
