Why does my ex bring up old memories?

Guys! I need advice, my ex keeps bringing up old memories of the times we use to be together its been about 5 years since we've broken up. He moved away as well (not the reason why we broke up) so when he comes home for the holidays we hang out. He brings up memories such as remember when...and remember that one time. He also asked me via text if I ever regretted being with him. What does it mean?...
