Why do people disappear in the middle of the convo?

The guy I like , I know he likes me, but he always disappears in the middle of the convo , like we were texting back and forth and he d just suddenly disappeared and come back in several hours.

why do people do that?

Because texting isn't meant for conversations. If you want to have a conversation, either call someone or meet in person. Use text just to check in or send quick information to others. Don't rely on it for conversations as it's not designed for it.

so I pretend I don't get bothered but it's so annoying

So you're saying you send him a message and then he doesn't respond for several hours ok i got it. I would guess it would depend on what's being said. typically if i'm texting it isn't anything i deem very important it's just banter so i don't care iff a person takes half a day responding back. Except in the rare cases we're talking time sensitive subjects like meeting somewhere in the near future.

I think you're taking a slight where there was none intended. you measuring his response time as though it determines your value to him.

some time it's a quick question that needs a short answer. Even like he texts me first then ignores my response for several hours, I think it's just his habit.
It's just annoying mental wise because If I don't want to get distracted at a random time later. I d rather finish the convo in 10 min. If I need urgent response I d call.
I m thinking either I tell him it's annoying , or I should put my phone on silent so I will miss his text later too
