There's this guy who's friends with my friends, he's nice to everyone, but ignores me. I have no idea why. But i sometimes catch him staring at me and he definitely listens to my conversations with other people, because he goes and talks to others about what i said. Its so strange.

What you talk about is mostly referred as "The model syndrome".
There is a reason why people who are considered "mediocre" will marry more, and will have more relationships with those who are much better looking than them.

The effect is very simple, and most guys will agree to it I guess:
When you see someone who *you* find as "very" beautiful... Or very smart... or anything that is "VERY" something...
You will have cold feet.
With models its easier to explain, because when beauty becomes a "consensus", you will mostly never address those women, basing this "thought" on the fact of "wow, she's gorgeous, why would she look at me"...
Those little talks in your head will definitely cause you to ignore someone who is drawing attention.

I can say it for myself, everytime I used to hangout with people, and all of a sudden a woman came around and drew attention in such an absolute way, I didn't even look at her, and kept my eyes off, just not to give her the "privilege" of "all eyes on me".

He may be attracted to you but hates knowing that he does. It's more physical and nothing more. He also doesn't want to lead you on. And guys often do that to find out how he feels first. If his crush is just fickle or it's serious. Guys don't want to take the unnecessary risk unless he is certain. It's mostly a personality thing. But most guys do that more than girls unless she is shy and conservative.

Dont listen to anyone here who's bashing. Since you have common friends, try to find a natural situation so you can be introduced to him. With time, he will know you and you will have your answer.
