I know you're probably looking for the male opinion here, but I wanted to let you know: I'm the same! I dress well, but it's usually jeans and sweaters or cardigans, I may own one cute purse, but I usually have a backpack (grad student), and I wouldn't be caught dead in heels anywhere but a wedding. I'd much rather watch the Hangover than the Notebook, and most romantic lines I consider comedy.
There are plenty of guys who prefer girls like us, though, at least in my experience. I think we're a lot less pressure, guys don't have to worry about everything being special and overly romantic, they can more easily relax and be themselves. I don't know. I've never had trouble with it.
I prefer that, most people who are really into fashion have no fashion sense whatsoever... look at Lady Gaga, she's obsessed with it, but how many people think wow that's actually a lovely outfit? Most people just think she looks odd.
I think guys will go for pretty much anything. You could have a shaved head and someone would still go for it.
