Why do guys usually do this? Is it to convey a message via the lyrics or just to show her what kind of music he likes?
Ummm... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, "because he likes to share music?" 😅
I mean, I'm really passionate about the music I listen to, and sometimes I'll toss a song towards someone if it "resonates" with what they're going through or what they're needing, emotionally.
But I can't say that all guys aren't "testing the waters" when they do it. When a guy is deeply connected with music and he shares it, he *may* be like me, and not meaning anything by it at all. Or, he might be testing out the harmonies to see if the other "fits the same groove".
(Kinda depends on the heart/mind space of the guy)

Both, in my case. And more. Music is a great way to express feelings/emotions where words often don't really get to the point. It motivates, comforts, energizes.
Not only lyrics transmit messages. I believe that a good musician can also 'speak' with his/her instrument.
It could be either because the guy wants to send a message, show you a song he likes or thinks you’d like, they usually don’t take the time to send a song still unless there’s a certain part of the song that indirectly describes the feeling or thoughts you give them most of the time unless the whole song is the message. I think that if guys also show what kind of music they’re into then they usually just say the genre and don’t usually like I said take the time to you know the rest...
Usually because of its lyrics and/or meaning. My boyfriend and I do this all the time with one another. It’s cute actually because sometimes it’ll be like “here babe listen to this! It made me think about you”. It’s sweet 😭

I've been exploring the meaning behind a guy sending a song to a girl and how to respond, and here's what I've found:
Possible Reasons for Sending a Song:
- Expression of Interest: Often, it's a subtle way of showing he likes you.
- Attention Seeking: The song might be a way to grab your attention.
- Initiating Conversation: It can be a conversation starter, revealing his tastes and interests.
- Shared Memories: The song might be tied to a memory or feeling he associates with you.
- Conveying Feelings Through Lyrics: The lyrics might resonate with his feelings for you.
How to Respond:
- Acknowledge the Gesture: Show appreciation for the thoughtfulness.
- Engage in Conversation: Use the song as a starting point for a deeper chat.
- Share Your Feelings: If comfortable, reciprocate by sharing your thoughts or a song in return.
- Set Boundaries: If overwhelmed or not interested, gently set boundaries.
Each situation is unique, so the response can vary based on your comfort and relationship with the person. Feel free to check out my post on Relationship Explained for more advice on specific scenarios!
It really depends , does he have feelings for you?,
The person I'm meeting at the time, we both are not ready for making things serious (need time for : education etc...) BUT all the songs I've already sent her , were like an indirectly massage to express how i feel for her (I love her personality and characteristics so much (you have no clue))
The easiest way and the only key for all kinds of relationships is COMMUNICATION... why don't you ask him? It may turn to something interesting! 😉
I usually send songs to my girlfriend because they mean something to me, just a love song i found and thought was good, or a funny song i thought would make her laugh. Like this one i sent her, im always eating pizza told her it suited me perfectly.. https://music. youtube. com/watch? v=bIgBj-G1Vj0&feature=share
Assuming he's a human... Guys are humans too (not sure if you were aware) humans are complicated and don't have a specific set of rules they follow other than basic things like oxygen and gravity. Sometimes things have hidden meaning and sometimes they don't. You really should be asking him.
Definitely the lyrics mean something to the guy. And for the girls I imagine. A old crush sent me the link to Supertramp's song, "Take The Long Way Home". She told me she knew I had to be this way (the person described in the song) to survive in an unhappy marriage.
It can be both. I remember sending a girl I was dating Immortal by Evanescence to explain we were breaking up (I was a teenager). But I’ve also sent songs to explain positive feelings. Other times I’ve done it just to share my taste in music.
I'd probably do that when the song lyrics mean something and are related to the person im texting. If i wanted you to know my music taste I'd just tell you what kinda music i listen to. But if i send a particular song, it definitely means something
If it's something he hadn't Express verbally then she's expressing through the songkind of like a romantic gesture or something more to get you involved in The mind game he might be trying to shut that s*** down tell him you don't like listening to music but no real meaning behind it
my guy usually wants me to listen to the meaning in the lyrics they usually mean something special to him. like sad but true by metallica or behind blue eyes limp buiscuit.
Because the lyrics mean something. Nearly always. Unless you two happened to be discussing musical tastes.
Haven’t had a guy do that since high school when cassettes existed. He would do it for the lyrics and underline specific lines. My current interest has a sexy voice and he tends to sing to me
Yes.
Sometimes it's to show his taste, sometimes to send her musical messages, sometimes just to show her a bunch of music he thinks she'll like based on the stiff she already says she likes.Mine was always about the meaning of the song. Sometimes that was general feeling because of composition, or because the lyrics explicitly said what I needed her to hear.
More than likely it's to convey a message. I think a guy would just say that he likes a type of music but that can happen. Mostly depends on context.
From a musicians point of view it's a mix of both. Sometimes it's even to get her opinion if she likes a song, even if it's not mine as my fiance always has an interesting input about music
I always Google search the lyrics to a song a guy listens to the lyrics will tell you how he thinks 95% of the time.
I don't know what the norm is. I kinda obsess on symbolism, so if I did it would be lyrics.
It's done to mean something in the lyrics because he cannot convey those feelings to you verbally.
Maybe he likes the song and wanted to share with you. Don't just assume things. If you feel something is going on then ask this guy. But don't just overanalyse his actions.
I've done both. I've also had girls hear messages in songs that I was not intending to convey, which led to confusing. It is better to be direct if you can but I suppose the fun is often the mystery and the subtext, the unsaid stuff.
