He ghosted me yet still says hi to me in real life?

There’s this guy who I’ve been friends with since late May. We would text each other everyday but all of a sudden, he stopped texting me for more than a week. I’ve seen him twice during the week near our school, & he said hello to me both times yet still doesn’t text me. I really like him, but maybe this is his way of letting me know he’s not interested in me (anymore?) yet he doesn’t wanna be on bad terms with me? What do you guys think? (btw I don’t wanna ask him about this, I’d feel annoying)

If he was really not interested in you, then he would also avoid greeting you when you meet him and he would avoid you so that he does not have to say anything to you.

There are various reason why someone gets ghosted but since you don't want to find out by talking to him, you are just limited to wild guesses. He may need a time off because he may get feelings for you and is not ready for that step.

The fact that he still greets you leads me to believe that he has no girlfriend that just took over your friendship, otherwise he would avoid to have to give explanations in case you ask him.

He could also expect that you make the first step to contact him but that is obviously something you don't want to do.

If he is really into you, then he will come to you to talk to you and it is up to you to make him feel that he acted wrongly by ghosting you. You can ignore him, in which case he will understand that you do not want to have any further contact with him or you can be very neutral with him to indicate that he should give you an explanation as to why he behaves like he does.

Thank you so much for your response. I think that I’ll just ignore him if he ever texts me, until he apologizes. Yesterday in school, he was talking to his friend very close to where my friend & I were talking (we were in that spot first). I don't know if that could mean something.

Did he glance at you while talking or do you have the feeling he is ignoring you?

Maybe he was just observing you and your reaction. Don't show him any interest until he approaches you first. If he talks to you, remain distant and just give the most basic answers until he asks you why you are being cold with him.

At that stage you give him a piece of your mind about social behavior and what is acceptable and not. Good luck.

Well, sometimes he wouldn’t reply to my messages after a day or two because he was busy with work (he doesn’t work anymore now tho), but now he hasn’t replied in 10 days. I don’t wanna double text him.
