If he was really not interested in you, then he would also avoid greeting you when you meet him and he would avoid you so that he does not have to say anything to you.
There are various reason why someone gets ghosted but since you don't want to find out by talking to him, you are just limited to wild guesses. He may need a time off because he may get feelings for you and is not ready for that step.
The fact that he still greets you leads me to believe that he has no girlfriend that just took over your friendship, otherwise he would avoid to have to give explanations in case you ask him.
He could also expect that you make the first step to contact him but that is obviously something you don't want to do.
If he is really into you, then he will come to you to talk to you and it is up to you to make him feel that he acted wrongly by ghosting you. You can ignore him, in which case he will understand that you do not want to have any further contact with him or you can be very neutral with him to indicate that he should give you an explanation as to why he behaves like he does.

I think you should ask him, 'hey what's up that you are not texting anymore, did I bore you?" or something like that.

Let it go. That sounds like you would be in for a big headache if you did get involved with him

Don't ask him. He's clearly not interested.
Does he not respond when you text him?
