Why would this guy invite me to events when he doesn’t even talk to me?

Okay so I grew up on a farm in a very agricultural community. Like 90% of the population are farmers. My whole family are farmers. I’m a huge gamer nerd with no interest in farming. My uncle tried to hook me up with a guy from work who is also a farmer and not really my type. He’s nice but conversations with him are very awkward because I don’t know any technical terms about farming.

Anyway, this guy added me on Facebook and I accepted. He would invite me to community events in town over Facebook and normally me and my family would go to them. So when I see him at the event, he ignores me and goes to talk to my dad because my dad is more open to talk about farming.

Why invite me to something and not bother to even say hi? I don’t see the point. If you want to talk to my dad then invite my dad instead of me:

It sounds like there might be a reason he wants to stay in close with your family and using you for his own benefit, it's not your problem and maybe you should let your dad know before you let this con man get his pitch fork to deep in the haystack!

Haha it doesn’t happen anymore because I moved to the city 12 hours away but I occasionally get invites from him but I can never attend because I’m so far away.

He likes how you look, he knows your family, you're a safe bet, and he thinks your family can easily pressure you to be with him. He doesn't actually like you for who you are and what you're interested in. 🤷

Maybe he didn't want to invite you but he did it out of some sort of pressure either from his peers, friends, or his family. Hence it is like he invited you out of formality and nothing more.

BUT also... I will say this: He might not feel comfortable talking to you when your dad is around. Because he probably really respects your dad and he doesn't want him to get suspicious and try to break you up. Because no matter how much a father likes another man, he will still try to keep him away from his daughter. That's just the way things work. ... And I'm not saying he's a bad guy! I'm not saying that at all. But if he wants to put the moves on you (not sexually but romantically speaking) then he probably isn't going to want to have your dad staring over his shoulder.
