Why would a guy invite me somewhere and then ignore me?

I liked this guy and everyone said he liked me too. He would ask me if I was going to be somewhere like he was wanting to see me again. I told him I would and he smiled and said good. When I came he was late because of work like always. He came dressed up all handsome :) sat across from me but did not talk to me. I said hi and he said hi but that was it. He was playing a game so I went over to join the game. He seemed happy that I came to play with him and his friends. Later we were both standing around. I was waiting for him to talk to me but he kept fidgeting with things. I was going to talk to him but someone else started talking to him. I felt silly waiting to talk to him so I said goodbye to everyone. He looked a little sad that I was leaving and stood up to say goodbye. Then he asked but I'll see you again won't I?

Why do you think he ignored me like that?

Is he just that shy/nervous?

You gave him nothing to work with. You wouldn't speak to him. Presumably you weren't even flirting with him, since that usually requires some words to come out of your mouth.

You gave him nothing. And expected him to do all the work.

It's actually more you who ignored him. Why didn't you just talk a little bit when he was doing things ?

It's not like he would have wanted to be really awkward in front of his friends by interrupting everything..

Yea I see that. I'm kinda extremely shy. But he didn't make himself seem very approachable. At least that's how I saw it. If he would have just looked at me I would have talked to him but he had his back turned messing with things
