Why do most men prefer to have their hair short?

I am still wondering why. Why there are few guys that have long hair. Even those guys who have perfect hair and aren't balding at all still having short hair. I personally find it boring to have short hair and have it long. I like how I look with long hair much more than with short hair.
When you have short hair you can't neither tie a ponytail nor a bun. And most guys don't even try it. They don't grow their hair out just to see if it looks good on them and what is like.

Lack of vanity. It is truly shocking you list having a ponytail or manbun under a list of positives and not under a list titled 'the first to be euthanized under the new regime'.
More practically, why would I want to spend 2 goues drying my hair when I can dab a towel on it and be ready to go do something with my day in 1 minute? Not worry about windy days or any other shit long hair makes awkward. Or most importantly of all, who gives a shit it's just hair not a personality trait... Despite how much guys with long hair try to make it one

The place where i live everybody and i mean everybody who sees a dude with long hair with bun or ponytail thinks they are gay 100%
Girls think that way guys too, old people, teenagers, everyone
Thats why every guy who wants to be viewed as real man has 3,4 cm of hair or short military cut (buzz cut) or they shave or trim near full bald
Its very rare to see a guy with long hair here

My hair has been like the steriotypical australian surfer most of my life.
I have never had it grow long enough for that and i would hate it my head gets hot in the summer.
Most people keep it short because it looks better easyer to tidy and doesn't look feminem.
I get a haircut about every 9months
