Yep, really. I think I haven't received a genuine compliment in years.
Most of what I got recently was out of politeness or comfort. None of them were sincere.

I wouldn't see your compliment as flirting. But I definitely do not wanna hear compliments at least now. Though unlike girls we have not been brought up by highlighting every insecurities, there are usually some silent treatment that makes us question everything that we have look wise. Now if we get compliments, if it is just two of us, no problem. But if it is in group, usually other people smile and that our brain makes us think is condescending. So in group, I would not wanna hear any compliment.
But that's from an ugly dude. Maybe others have other experience.
A Girl complementing a guy is quite rare because male species are not complemented more often its how the world runs.
Appreciate his work that's fine it won't fall under flirting.
But if you compliment on his personality traits it's high chance he will think it as flirting because girls flirt like that when they are interested in a man
If someone makes you compliments it's obvious the person wants something. Men usually don't need compliments like "you look good today" for their self esteem. (Maybe some guys do?) Hence a guy will tend to think "she wants something" instead that it's just a friendly gesture
I would appreciate a compliment. I'll know what is genuine and what isn't though.
I don't sexualise any compliments. I'm rather oblivious as well, so when I do receive a compliment, half of the time I don't even realise it until after the fact when they mention they complimented me.
I wouldn't mind some positive attention, but it isn't needed. It wouldn't do much for me.
See it's just so rare that a woman would compliment a man we automatically assume she's interested. And really from all my limited experience she always was
I mean who wouldn’t like a compliment! We all do. It’s just how the other person carries themselves while saying them.
Compliments from women will deliver the wrong message. Guys will interpret the compliments as flirting.
