It shows that he is very interested, but he isn't being very smart about it. He should know that it could bore you, and that it shows he has nothing better to do. A guy should not stay in constant contact with a girl he likes, it will always make her cool off. Eventually she will get the feeling he tries so hard because he knows he can't get anyone else, which shows that his quality is low and that she could do better.

You should probably tell him this! But not all of it, and in a nice way.
