Why do some men get obsessed with me?

This happened a few times in my life. I met a guy only with the intention of being her friend, this guy falls in love with me and suddenly gets obsessed with me and says that he's the one for me and that he would do everything to make me happy if I give him a chance but I don't feel attracted to him or sometimes I'm dating someone else and it's a bad timing. When I was 16 there was this divorced guy who fell in love with me and I wasn't interested in him at all I was just being nice and treated him as a friend but I don't know why he thought I was interested. He got so obsessed he would send me 20 messages if I didn't answer to his messages (15 years ago wasn't possible to block phone numbers). After a while he had a big depression because I decided to pull away. After so many years this is happening again, I met this wonderful guy who wants to date me really badly but I'm not attracted to him at all and I already told him that because I don't want to hurt him but he keeps insisting and texting me all the time and gets mad.

Ik it happens to me too. but stay positive. not all guys are like that obviously, just sorta rare to find the good ones

That's what I think too. I can be so friendly that people think I have feelings for them.

but why do they keep thinking they have a chance with them even after you tell them you're not attracted and that's never going to happen?

My own theory on this is movies and TV and this long held belief to keep on trying... Even recently in the kids movie planes 2 one plane pesters a female one who is not interested... Then by the end they get together
