Why have men stopped being stoic?

Maybe there are a few stoic men, but in today's day and age, there are hardly any stoic men. Have we lost our values or is someone brainwashing us?

Stoicism is now a personality trait not something they are forced into so it isn't as common, men used to be forced to shut up about their feelings by other men, family, etc, this was just how men were told to act, but it isn't as common now to be forced to act this way. it is rarely healthy to just act like a robot, but some people are more like that anyway so its not totally nonexistent. If a guy wants to show how he feels that's fine, if they don't, that's fine too. I'd say it's healthier to be able to control when you let emotions just happen and when to prioritise more important things. But really it doesn't matter.

Yeah, true that. Of course no one should be a complete stoic but some values like discipline can be good for ambition. But I feel we don't complain a lot and sometimes people can take advantage of that.

Everyone has a different line that needs to be crossed to complain, I think it's best only to complain when it truly matters, not just whenever something is a slight inconvenience, being stoic will probably mean having a high tolerance for such inconveniences which may mean being taken advantage of but on the other hand mean you can be seen as more tolerant and reliable which are good things.

Lost our values? I'd say we've gained them. After centuries of treating men as disposable objects, we're finally moving towards treating them like human beings, with inherent value, instead of only what they produce. In theoretical terms, self-control is a virtue, but socially-mandated stoicism has almost always meant "stop feeling, stop thinking, and do what we tell you".

Yeah, but a society too emotional is also not strong. Neither is one completely rational. I think we can learn some values from stocism, like discipline. It will create stronger men. But okay

Stoicism isn't strength, it's denial. Removing your emotions won't make you a stronger person, just a more efficient machine.

Well I can only change things that I can. So there is need in worrying about things I can't. Also emotions like anger and fear make you think about consequences more than the battle itself. They make you lose courage and reduce your self esteem. Sometimes efficiency matters to get results. I'm not saying I'm completely emotionless but probably there should be a balance.

Also if you have faced adversity time and again you become strong enough to face any challenge. So it makes you better in the long run

i think its a loss of character due too bad parenting that makes guys like that now a days. there is less respect taught by family where women are in charge and by that the man always tucks his tail like a punk and says "yes dear" not sure how a guy can cut his own balls off just for the sake off a happy family. you dont learn anything.
